Bass Creek Espresso Raspberry Smoothie | Bass Creek Coffee House - Ruth Baked Goods | Bass Creek Coffee House Bass Creek Coffee House | Afton WI

You can’t go wrong with lunch at Bass Creek Espresso!  Sounds like a coffee shop, doesn’t it?  Well, they are much more than a coffee shop.

I found that out when Ruth and I took the trek out to visit them.  They are off the beaten path, but well worth the drive, located in the small village of Afton, Wisconsin, only a 5 to 10 minute drive from Beloit.

Visiting With The Regulars

Dave and Wendy Karr own Bass Creek Espresso and they do a great job.  They make and serve the food and do catering.  The menu is not extensive, but everything we tried was well proportioned and very tasty.  Part of the charm of eating there is visiting with the regulars.

We started with a smoothie, because they sounded really good on a hot day.  They are!  Mine was strawberry banana and Ruth had a raspberry one.  They were very good, but very filling.

Our Lunches

I couldn’t believe they served that much food for only $5

They have some great lunch specials.  I had the “Soup n Sandwich Special,” which was only $5 and consisted of a sandwich and cup of soup.   The soup of the day was cream of asparagus and it was so good.  I thought about that soup for a few days afterwards and I don’t do that with food often.  I really wanted more.

Next was my really yummy chicken salad sandwich on a croissant.  It was HUGE!  I thought I should have split it with Ruth (she had the chicken salad stuffed in a tomato), but I ate it all and was stuffed afterwards, just like her tomato!  I couldn’t believe they served that much food for only $5.

And For Dessert?

Of course, lunch would not be complete without having dessert, but since I was so stuffed, I couldn’t eat any…so I ordered it and took it home to eat.  Ruth had the peach pie and she said it was delicious.  I had a cherry walnut cinnamon roll and saved it for breakfast the next day.  It was a good choice.  Since lunch was so good, on my next visit to Bass Creek Espresso, I think I will try their breakfast.
