Meet the Be In It Bloggers -
I have 2 fantastic kids; a great husband and we are Beloit Proud! I am a certified Body Pump and Insanity Instructor working for the Stateline Family YMCA and love to be active in my community!
I am a life-long resident of the area who just retired after a 35 year career as a pharmacist. I’ve been involved in a number of community organizations including Rotary Club (past president), City of Beloit Parks Commission, Friends of Beckman Mill, Beloit International Film Festival board and I am currently chair of the Beloit Police and Fire Commission. I have also served on the Beloit City Council from 2003 to 2011 and was Council president for two terms. I’m an avid car enthusiast who writes freelance automotive articles for the Beloit Daily News and the Web site carsindepth.com. Widowed in 2011, I share my home and life with my two cats, Bernie and Millie.
My family has been connected to Beloit for a long time. I remember volunteering in the library of the Beloit Historical Society as a 12 year old kid. Now I’ve come full circle. I grew up in Roscoe, went to DePaul University, and started a family in Chicago, IL. In summer 2014 my family and I crossed the border and settled here. We love Beloit for uncountable reasons. I work at CELEB, Beloit College’s entrepreneurship center, as well as coordinate social media and community relations efforts for local small-businesses and nonprofits. This past year, I served as a board member for the Beloit Historical Society!
I’ve really enjoyed being involved in so many places in Beloit. I hope to convey some of what I love about this city in the blog. Oh, Beloit, let me count the ways…
I am a reader, knitter, freelance writer, and a big believer in laughter and positive thinking. When not working, I love to travel, attend live theater, go antiquing (thus enjoying some great antique stores in Beloit), and taking pictures in an effort to understand the crazy, technicolor world I live in.
I moved to Beloit on a full-time basis a year ago, though I’ve been in Beloit longer and am a recent graduate of Beloit College. I’m also a writer, and love biking, binge-watching Netflix shows, cooking, baking, hosting dinner parties, drinking Wisconsin beer, watching baseball, and generally enjoying life in good ole Beloit! I’m excited to share the great treasures of Beloit with you all!
