Visit Beloit helps Wisconsin bundle up this winter season! -
Visit Beloit has had the honor to participate in the “Big Bundle Up” campaign the past three years and this year’s collection was outstanding! We collected 508 items (compared to 145 last year!) and donated them to the Beloit Domestic Violence Survivor Center, Hands of Faith and the Salvation Army.
The Annual “Big Bundle Up”
Visit Beloit, the Beloit Travel Wisconsin Welcome Center and the Fairfield Inn & Suites, teamed up and invited residents to drop off new or gently used coats, sweaters, hats, mittens and other warm clothing items, as part of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism’s “Big Bundle Up” campaign. The “Big Bundle Up” was a statewide collection program running Nov. 18, 2013 – Jan. 4, 2014.
Many hands knitting to keep Beloit warm
Many of the items we received were handmade. The retired seniors really stepped up to the plate to help us out this year. We received 267 hats, 70 pairs of mittens, 37 scarves and 13 sweaters, all knitted with tender loving care by the hands of local seniors. Our hearts were touched by their generosity!
Every Coat Makes a Difference
As we distributed the items to the organizations, they told us they were very grateful for the donations, because the need this year was very high. There are people in our community who do not have hats, gloves or even coats to protect them from the cold weather and many snowfalls.
Remember us during your spring cleaning!
We were very thankful to help collect and distribute these winter items. Please keep Visit Beloit in mind this year as you clean out your closets and watch our Facebook page for postings on next year’s “Big Bundle Up” in December. With your help, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of those around us. Thanks for partnering with us this year!
