Dunkin Gala Event -
Recently my wife and I had the honor of attending a gala for Tom & Regina Dunkin.
The occasion . . . A celebration for Tom, Deputy Chief of Police, who graduated from FBI school and recently completed his bachelor’s degree in Public Administration. What a glorious affair it was with a capacity crowd filling the Merrill Community Center. Almost half the crowd from outside Beloit including the Dunkin’s entire families.
The evening began promptly at the scheduled time with a wonderful dinner of BBQ ribs, beef brisket, coleslaw, pork beans, macaroni and cheese and fruit punch.
Tom had stated that “If there is a lot of talking, he was walking,” but Regina secretly arranged for Dr. Dennis Baskin to give a short tribute to Tom. Afterwards, the guest were treated to several solos by former Beloit idol winner Jason Fane whose moving vocals had the crowd smiling, rocking and, for some, singing along.
Dancing & Rocking
With the formal celebration concluded, it was time for some dancing. Rocking and rolling to the music Dee Jay’d by Thomas Quillen, along with special musician Harlan Jefferson. The group was hopping doing some line dancing, step dancing and just, this-is-how-I-roll dancing. Yours truly did get a couple steps in but was unable to keep up due to “old age.” What fun.
Great Representatives of Beloit
This was another example of the people we have in this great city of Beloit. Two individuals, each a great representative for Beloit, who as a couple multiply their impact. Humble, dedicated and always working toward helping others and lifting this city higher.
Well done Tom & Regina Dunkin. Well done!
